Festival Strings receive another Strad
Violins of the ensemble founders reunited
The fact that the last musician to play the „Sellière“ Stradivarus was none other than the co-founder of Lucerne Festival Strings, Wolfgang Schneiderhan, has many implications for the character of the ensemble. The addition of the aforementioned instrument completes the circle, as the other Stradivarius that has been loaned to the ensemble used to belong to co-founder Rudolf Baumgartner. These instruments are more than mere prestige, as they tell a story deeply rooted in the history of the ensemble.
