Mia Lindblom was born in Hudiksvall in Sweden. She discovered her passion for music at an early age and devoted herself to Swedish folk music in addition to the classical repertoire. She deepened her interest at the Musical High School in Falun and attended the master classes of Sven Karpe and Terje Moe Hansen.
She received her training as a violinist from Leo Berlin at the Stockholm College of Music and later from Gunars Larsens at Lucerne Conservatory. Since graduating with the concert diploma in Lucerne, she has been working as permanent member and as guest in various Swiss orchestras.
Chamber music is one of her main focuses. In addition to working with classical string formations, she takes part in jazz projects like the Jürg Wickihalder Orchestra, plays Argentinian tango with the Riotango group and was for many years a member of ensemble ö!, which specializes in modern music. She lives in Zurich with her family.
Mia and the Lucerne Festival Strings
Mia first made contact with the Lucerne Festival Strings while studying with Gunars Larsens, then leader of the ensemble. She participated in the monthly Bach interpretation courses given by Rudolf Baumgartner, and his attention was drawn to her. Soon she was playing as a guest in various concerts and on tour, becoming a permanent member in 2002.
